A stream along a section of SR-35 in Fort Payne, between Turner Avenue and Clark Avenue, had eroded the shoulder to the point the asphalt edge of pavement was undermined. The shoulder, near vertical in areas, left no room for vehicles that veered outside the yellow line.

The shoulder was rebuilt with crushed concrete and protected with The RETEM System. The RETEM System was chosen because of its ability to take the irregular shape of the slope and hold the concrete in place.

“We knew we had to rebuild the shoulder of the road. We also knew whatever we did needed to be protected from erosion. The RETEM System provided the solution we needed.”
